Saturday's Critters #121

Saturday's Critters #121

Happy Saturday, it's time to share your critters and post. Any kind of critter will do, even a new or old post.. I appreciate everyone who is linking in with this week's critter party.

These are some of our local feeder birds on my deck and in the woods. All of these shots are taken thru my dining room window. LOL, it is my excuse for not having a clear and completely focused photo.

A male House Finch on my bird bath.

Up close, the Pine Warbler is a daily visitor and love the peanut suet balls.

The Field Sparrow is another daily visitor. I am also seeing more Chipping Sparrows now, they are a summer bird for me.

The Field Sparrow and a White-throated Sparrow eye to eye. I hope you enjoyed this collection of my yard birds. As always thanks for the visits and the nice comments. I also thank everyone who is linking up and sharing their critters.. Happy Saturday, have a great weekend!

  5. Your photos are excellent, Eileen! And the birds are all so beautiful.
For next winter, I will try to move our feeder nearer to a window, but finding a good, safe location takes a bit planning.

  13. Good Morning Eileen.

You have some great pictures today. Who said sparrows are boring? They definitely aren't from your pictures. The male House Finch is just gorgeous and I didn't realise they had that patch of red at the base of their bill.

    Have a lovely weekend.

  19. Lovely little birds Eileen. In my opinion even plain little Sparrows are a delight to look at. I've never seen a Pine Warbler before, a beautiful colour. I should get a bird feeder for our garden to attract birds for photos & to help the birdies finding food with winter coming our way.
And a big thank you for hosting Saturday's Critters, I always enjoy taking part in it.

  24. Good morning Eileen, you have some sweet local birds! I even featured a sweet bird I got to know real well. First bird I've ever known to tag along with us out in the real world and stay safely on his human daddy's shoulder! It was the coolest experience in the bird world that I've ever known. Critters are wonderful aren't they?!

  33. I wish I could draw house finches and sparrows to my feeders. I wonder if it's the squirrels or the blue jays that keep them away.

  34. Back yard critters are the best. We just put up our bird house. And a for rent sign!

  41. We have recently seen "male house finches" at our feeders and had no idea what they were! So sweet! I'm glad to know this now. I'd have never guessed you took your shots through a window! I tried to shoot (with a CAMERA! that is!) our pair of squirrels when they come for daily peanuts but all I get is streaks and blurs! Just NOT the photographer you are! (Which is why coming here is such a joy!)

  42. Hi Eileen, Linking up a post from my archive for Saturday's Critters ... Thank you! Your bird photos today are excellent and I would not know they were taken through the window if you hadn't mentioned it. Have a happy weekend!

  46. I am really in awe of your feeder birds. This winter we had exactly two species (one of each)-- a Lincoln's and a Savannah Sparrow. They were bookends, respectively at the beginning and the end of the season but with nothing in between, most unusual.

  47. Yes, sure did enjoy your backyard birds. : )

  63. Hello Eileen,
I think that these sparrows are so similar with ours...*-* I can easily recognise birds like them, (also, in genere, the pigeons and seagulls in nature, if I can say like this); but, what's for sure, it is that in here, we don/t have House Finch or Pine Warbler birds! So, lovely visitors in your yard! Many thanks for hosting and best regards in sunny April!

  77. You don't have anything to apologize about with these gorgeous photos. I really wish we had colorful birds like that where I live.

  78. Such sweet yardbirds -- I don't have ANY birds in my yard, unless you count the occasional ibis or heron using the canal temporarily. (Actually that's really fun to see -- but it isn't a daily occurrence.)Oh yes and we do have mockingbirds and woodies occasionally in the front yard. But all my windows are in the back. (It wouldn't do any good to put out feeders, because there are no trees back there, no protection for the perchers).
